The final plans in the refurbishment to rejuvenate the town's former BHS into a series of stores has been given the green light ahead of opening later this year. Ipswich Borough Council has approved plans for signage to be put up around the outside of the former BHS shop in Butter Market in Ipswich town centre. The signage that is to go up will display the five shops that are moving into the premises.
These include Flannels, Sports Direct, GAME, USC and Evans Cycles, all owned by the Frasers Group. Work is ongoing inside the building (Image: Tom Cann) The council also approved plans for the installation of new shutters around the outside of the building. In June, plans were first submitted for the five shops to take over the empty unit, with the news coming as a delight to Ipswich leaders .
In July, vans were seen pitching up around the building, with the area being fenced off ahead of work commencing on the inside to convert the former clothes shop into five different shops. Flannels, a high-end retailer, will take up the majority of the ground floor, with fashion retailer USC taking up a section of the floor, as well as Sports Direct.
