Yet, it was the process of filming these layers that became a challenging hurdle for Siddhant. In his recent conversation with Filmfare, Siddhant recounted an incident that left him feeling uneasy during the shooting of a poignant scene with Deepika. The mounting pressure became so intense that his father and producer Karan Johar had to intervene.
Siddhant recalled his dad offering him some valuable advice; he said, “Imagine how keenly 99% of people in India would embrace this opportunity. Why are you holding back? It’s high time you act responsibly, displaying professionalism and maturity (sic).” In a state of doubt about the future trajectory of their acting career, someone found comfort in their father’s wisdom.
He nudged them to redefine and shape their career for success. Recognising the huge potential of collaborating with prestigious entities like Dharma Productions, mega-star Deepika Padukone, and talented director Shakun Batra, the father encouraged them to embrace the opportunity, seize the moment and use it to the fullest. The performer went on to explain how his inherent introverted tendencies made things hard for him.
He added, “I have never made the first move ever in my life. Karan called me, and he was like, ‘What’s the problem?’ And I told him everything. He was like, ‘Dude, you are a professional, and just behave like one.
This is your job’ (sic).” In the same interview, Siddhant shared a personal anecdote about screening the movie for his parents. He stated that he watched the movie with them from a distance, overcome with apprehension.
Post the screening, he sought his father’s views on the film. His dad praised Siddhant’s acting prowess but felt the intimate scenes were too overpowering. Striving to justify, Siddhant clarified that he was merely adhering to the director’s guidance.
Nonetheless, his father seemed to appreciate the film in general. Siddhant’s relatives reacted interestingly to his film. He shared that his family were left taken aback, thinking he was being overly dramatic in his portrayal, almost as if he was living their dreams out on screen.
Despite his attempts to get them to focus on the film’s underlying message, they seemed more captivated by the romantic sequences, often smiling at those parts.
