The Shropshire Community Foundation, which is run by a group of nine local trustees, was founded in 2022. The creation of the fund saw the group pool their combined expertise of the county together to benefit the community they serve. Since the foundations launch, its primary aim has to been to support those in need across Shropshire.

This has included successfully distributing over £45,000 between different initiatives, including distributing £15,000 in grants from Zac's Fund, in memory of local boy Zac Oliver, whose fund is used to help local young people suffering from cancer. Selina Graham, chair of the foundation, said: “The Foundation was set up to support communities and individuals in need across the whole of Shropshire by connecting them to donors and channelling funds to them. “Over the last two years we have been working very hard to encourage contributions from both the public and private sectors and building a grants programmes targeting the most pressing challenges and issues in our county,” she said.

“Our mission has and will always be to use philanthropy to build a long-term source of sustainable, strategic grant funding for the good of those communities and people most in need across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin,”.
