Exeter City rose to fourth in the League One table as they celebrated manager Gary Caldwell’s 100 th match in charge in style. Goals in either half gave the Grecians a 2-0 win away to Shrewsbury Town as they made it six unbeaten with a sixth successive clean sheet in front of the Sky TV cameras. Kamari Doyle put the Grecians ahead with just nine minutes on the clock.

The teenager pounced on a defensive mistake before rifling home a smart finish into the far corner. The goal though woke up the Shrews who dominated the rest of the half, but couldn’t find a way past Joe Whitworth. But those saves proved crucial when after the hour City doubled their lead.



Substitutes Jack Aitchison and Josh Magennis combined as the experienced striker tapped home from close range – albeit from an offside position – to make it 2-0 and break his duck for the club. The Grecians held out to rise up to fourth in the table – just three points off the top – as they extended their run without conceding to nine hours. It was only the second time City have ever kept six clean sheets in a row, matching a run in the Conference spanning the end of the 2004/05 and start of the 2005/06 seasons.

With their defeat, Shrewsbury stayed 21 st . Following the 1-0 win over Cambridge United before the international break, Gary Caldwell made three changes to his exeter -city-fc> Exeter City side. Tristan Crama returned from illness at centre-back in place of Jack Fitzwater.
