Showtrial season two has begun and fans have seen a lot of familiar faces in this latest outing. The first series initially aired back in 2021 starring The Originals’ Tracy Ifeachor and War Horse star Celine Buckens but they won’t be back for the second season on BBC One. Instead, a whole new cast has been introduced with the focus now on the death of a climate activist in a hit and run incident.

Showtrial season 2 cast Defence lawyer Sam Malik has taken on the case of PC Justin Mitchell (played by Michael Socha) who has been accused of killing the climate activist by knocking him off his bike. While trying to find out what really happened, Sam is struggling with his own mental health. Actor Adeel Akhtar is a familiar face when it comes to dramas, having starred in Killing Eve, Fool Me Once, Les Miserables and films including Victoria and Abdul, The Nest and Enola Holmes.

PC Justin Mitchell is the suspect in the firing line for the death of Marcus Calderwood but did he really kill him and if so, why? Actor Michael Socha is best recognised for portraying Harvey in the iconic Channel 4 series This Is England, as well as featuring in Chernobyl, Time, Being Human and Once Upon A Time. DI Miles Southgate is brought in from a neighbouring force in Hampshire to investigate the death of Marcus Calderwood. He is portrayed by actor Joe Dempsie who was Chris Miles in the comedy-drama Skins and Gendry Baratheon in Game Of Thrones.

Some of his other roles have been in Pieces Of Her, D.
