While much of the world was occupied attending the Taylor Swift concert in New Orleans last weekend, I was busy being entertained by our local theater students. This past Sunday, students of The New Octavians Studio under the direction of Brent Goodrich sang a plethora of Halloween-themed songs. First to step out onto the stage was Luna Watts who powered through in singing “Come Little Children” from “Hocus Pocus.
” Next, clad in a Girl Scout outfit, was Caroline Kincaid who sang “Girl Scout” from “Beetlejuice the Musical” in humorous fashion. Also singing a tune from “Beetlejuice” was Gabbie Vicknair who sang an impressive version of “Dead Mom.” Performing two songs for this showcase was the talented Andressa Comeaux who sang “Trust in Me” from “The Jungle Book” and “Red” from Disney’s “Descendants 4.
” Also gracing the audience with more than one song was Charlotte Crane who belted out “Someone Gets Hurt” from “Mean Girls” as well as Kelly Metzger’s “We Will Stand for Everfree.” Andrew Pellichino also chose to perform more than one song, including “Not While I’m Around” from “Sweeney Todd” and “Jack’s Lament” from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Selecting a Billie Eilish song, Aurora Brown performed a lovely version of “Lovely.
” Sticking with the classics, Julia Muguira sang “Pulled” from “The Addams Family” while donning character Wednesday’s traditional black and white schoolgirl att.
