Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session, which runs at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre every Thursday, has gone on a short break due to renovations. Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session brings on board performances by different acts. Sessions host-cum-ethno-musician Waliko Makhala confirmed the development.

“The performances will resume on December 5 2024. The renovations taking place at JCC will allow us to be back bigger and better,” Makhala said. On his part, JCC Director Luc Deschamps, who is in United States of America with Kasambwe Brothers Band, said the place was being rebranded in preparation for the opening of Alliance Francaise de Blantyre.

“Apart from that, there is a training of French teachers running for two weeks,” Deschamps said. The French Embassy of South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi is conducting an intensive French training with an aim of preparing teachers for Delf B1 examinations, which certify teachers as possessing language skills. Ten best performing teachers from the training would earn a two-week scholarship to travel to France next year to enhance language skills.

“We are training 121 French teachers. French is an important language which the country needs to learn to the fullest,” JCC and Maison de la France French Director Poya Chapweteka said on Tuesday..
