Late singer Shin Hae-chul / Korea Times file By Baek Byung-yeul A tribute concert to commemorate the late Shin Hae-chul, a rock singer and one of the icons of Korean pop culture in the 1990s, will be held in October to mark the 10th anniversary of his passing. Courtesy of Dreamus Company The tribute concert will be held on Oct. 26 and 27 at Inspire Arena on Incheon's Yeongjong Island, according to the concert's organizer Dreamus Company. Located near Incheon International Airport, the concert venue is the country’s first indoor multipurpose performance hall with 15,000 seats.



The organizer stated that musicians who remember Shin, who passed away in 2014, have come together for the concert. The musicians plan to reinterpret the late singer's music and philosophy through various genres. "Rather than a serious and sad atmosphere, we are planning the concert as a joyful music festival," the organizer said.

Shin made his debut in 1988 on MBC TV's "Campus Music Festival" as the lead singer of the rock band Muhangwedo, meaning "continuous track." His band won the top prize in the singing contest with the song "To You," marking a spectacular debut. He later became a solo singer, leaving hit songs such as "Jazz Cafe" and "You're Deep Inside My Heart.

" Subsequently, he formed the rock band N.EX.T, an abbreviation for "new experiment team," in 1992, gaining immense popularity with songs such as "City People," "The Ocean: About Immortality" and "Lazenca, Save Us.
