Anupam Mittal , the founder and CEO of Shaadi.com, recently took to a professional media platform to share his journey from early millionaire success to devastating financial loss and eventual resurgence. Mittal, now a prominent figure in India's startup ecosystem, revealed how he initially achieved millionaire status in his early 20s while working with MicroStrategy, a company that soared to a $40 billion valuation.

At the height of his success, he even indulged in the luxury of a Ferrari . However, the euphoria was short-lived. The dot-com bubble 's collapse in the early 2000s brought his financial empire crashing down.



“Life in the US felt like a dream. So much so I even ordered a Ferrari. But as quickly as it came, it all vanished.

The dot com bubble burst, and with it, the money disappeared. In fact, I got into heavy debt,” he wrote. By 2003, Mittal found himself with nothing but the memory of his former success.

Despite the setback, he was determined to bounce back. With only $30,000 left to his name, he made a daring decision to invest $25,000 into a domain name for his new venture, Shaadi.com, along with other startups like Makaan.

com and Mauj Mobile. It was an all-or-nothing move that many considered reckless. He wrote, “By 2003, I was back in with nothing but the memory of winning - and losing big.

But I wasn’t done yet. With the kind of audacity that only comes from losing it all, I set out to build another dot-com venture.” Undeterred by the criticism, Mittal took the leap of faith, believing that this could be the game-changer he needed.

His bold bet paid off, and Shaadi.com eventually became one of the most successful online matrimonial platforms in India.
