Cricket giant Shane Warne tragically died of a heart attack at the age of 52 on March 4, 2022, while staying at a luxury villa on the Thailand holiday island of Koh Samui.



The official social media of the SWL used a throwback picture of Shane at the peak of his fame in a post announcing the ground breaking success of their heart test campaign. In the photo Shane can be seen offering a triumphant salute to fans while accepting a trophy. The snap also features the caption: '150,000 Shane Warne Legacy tests completed'.

In May Brooke shared on Instagram some alarming heart disease statistics. She then urged followers to get a health check via The Shane Warne Legacy foundation. 'Heart disease is the number one killer in men and the second highest for women.

Get checked at one of our machines,' she began. 'It's free and it takes four minutes. This test could save your life!' In a letter published in the Herald Sun, Warne's children revealed why they launched the nationwide campaign.

'We aim to reciprocate the love and guidance dad provided us throughout our lives by continuing the legacy he left behind,' they wrote. 'It's our heartfelt commitment to sustain the legacy on his behalf. ' Warne was trying to improve his health on his ill-fated trip to Thailand , with his manager James Erskine insisting he was sober. While the tragedy rocked the nation, his children Brooke, Jackson and Summer hope Warne's sudden death can inspire other Aussies to take action and save their own lives .

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Australia, leading to 12 per cent of all fatalities . While Warne did reportedly speak to a doctor about his heart health before leaving for Thailand , he did not have a thorough test carried out - Warne's family believe if that test had been taken, their father and hero would still be alive.
