SHANE LOWRY refused to dish out any low blows after seeing just how ill-equipped Kellie Harrington is with a golf club in her hands. The double Olympic champion shared a funny video of her attempting to swap punches for pitches. While tagging Lowry and Leona Maguire she joked: "I think I'll leave it to the pros!" Shane was quick to reply with a supportive and equally self-deprecating message.

Reposting her Instagram story, he added: "Still better than I'd do in the ring." Maguire also got back to her, hailing: "G'wan Kellie with the fancy footwork!" Both golfers had noteworthy weeks over the past seven days - albeit for differing reasons. Shane was one of the headline attractions as The Irish Open was held at beautiful Royal County Down .

However, unlike local favourite Rory McIlroy , the 37-year-old never got into title contention as he backdoored his way to a tie for 12th place over the four days. He did still feel grateful afterwards though on the back of receiving his usual levels of home support. Reflecting on the week as a whole, he noted: "Thank you to everyone who made this week special.

I always say it. "The Irish Open is one of the best tournaments in the world. "The course, the fans and we’re very lucky to have an amazing sponsor @Amgen.

Roll on Wentworth." Leona meanwhile was left in a far worse mood as she was largely snubbed by Team Europe captain Suzann Pettersen during The Solheim Cup . The Cavan native sent a pointed message after only lining out twice during their losing effort to Team USA in Washington D.

C. After defeating Ally Ewing 4 and 3 in Sunday's singles session, she didn't hide her annoyance at being predominantly left on the sidelines. She said: "I feel like I've been playing really great golf all week in practice and it was a bitter pill to swallow to be sat out for as many sessions as I was.

"[Pettersen] didn’t give much reason, to be honest. "The feeling I got was that I was a little bit too short and didn’t make enough birdies, but I think I proved today there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and I think I made plenty of birdies today. "It’s Solheim Cup, I don’t need any extra motivation but yeah, there probably was a little bit extra there, not going to lie.

"But ultimately it’s what’s best for the team this week, and I would have loved the opportunity to try and deliver more points for the team, but I did what I could today.".
