Seth Meyers says Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has been outdone. “Man, has any public figure ever been more off-putting than JD Vance?” the “Late Night” comedian wondered on Thursday night, as he slammed former President Donald Trump ’s running mate for knowingly perpetuating lies about Haitian immigrants Springfield, Ohio.

“I didn’t think anyone could ever out-Cruz Ted Cruz, but this son of a bitch did it. He’s Ted Cruz 2.0: less nasal, more eyeliner,” he added.

Vance, a U.S. senator from Ohio, said during a rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday that the media has a responsibility to fact-check claims , not him.

Despite a mountain of media fact-checks debunking his false claim that Haitians are eating people’s pets, he’s continued to push the lie anyway. “You don’t get to just lie and then tell everyone else it’s their job to fact check your BS,” Meyers said. Vance, like Cruz, is a former Trump critic-turned-sycophant. He once wondered if Trump could be “America’s Hitler,” but took back his criticism when he entered Republican politics with his 2021 Senate bid. Watch Meyers’ commentary below.
