Police are on the scene and traffic is building A busy road in Orrell Park was shut this afternoon following a police incident. Merseyside Police closed the Rice Lane in Orrell Park after two cars crashed. Rice Lane was closed at the junction of Hornby Road, near to Rice Lane Station, in both directions following the serious crash, which happened around 2.
45pm today (August 15). The closure is causing long delays in the area as traffic is diverted away from the scene. Police have said the incident involved two cars, and no injuries have been confirmed at this time.
Merseyside Police are urging people to avoid the area as more delays are likely as we approach rush hour. Our travel partner, INRIX, has reported that delays are also being affected by temporary traffic lights in the area. Arriva issued an update this afternoon saying bus services 310 and 345 are currently being diverted to Southport Road, and Bridle Road in both directions and Hornby Road service 300 is being diverted to Park Lane, Bridle Road and Southport Road in both directions, following the serious crash.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “There has been a RTC involving two cars on Rice Lane, near to Hornby Road. The incident happened at around 2.45pm.
