Sergio Perez ’s dad has hinted that the Red Bull star will not be calling time on his F1 career any time soon despite his struggles on the track. The driver has failed to secure a podium finish since April and ended his home Mexican Grand Prix in 17th position. Perez has come under increasing pressure in recent months amid Red Bull ’s downturn in fortunes and has failed to match the performances of team-mate Max Verstappen .

In Mexico at the weekend, he was unable to progress beyond Q1 and then made a false start on race day, before later making contact with RB’s Liam Lawson . Perez’s future is up in the air, with Red Bull boss Christian Horner refusing to rule out the 34-year-old’s departure. But the Mexican has been publicly backed in a social media post by his father Antonio, who vowed there is plenty more to come from his son.
