Tuesday, October 1, 2024 Serbia saw a remarkable 11.6% increase in foreign tourist arrivals in August 2024, with a total of 282,070 visitors, according to the latest data from the Serbian statistics office released on Monday. This surge is indicative of Serbia’s growing status as an attractive destination for international travelers.
The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists also rose significantly, up 10.6% year-on-year, reaching 667,941 overnight stays. Among the foreign visitors, Turkey led the pack with 34,170 tourists, followed by Germany with 23,034, Romania with 21,089, and China contributing 14,720 visitors.
This influx highlights Serbia’s appeal, particularly among neighboring countries and other international markets, showcasing the nation’s diverse offerings and vibrant culture. In contrast, domestic tourism faced challenges, as the number of local tourists dropped by 8.5% compared to August 2023, totaling 213,799.
