The event, which provides a preview of next year's spring and summer collections, will be held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and other key fashion districts throughout the city. Launched in 2000, the annual event aims to elevate K-fashion on the global stage by enhancing the international networks of domestic designers and fashion brands, connecting them with buyers from around the world. This year, the city plans to connect 95 Korean designer brands with 120 global buyers, focusing on enhancing exchanges and maximizing contract opportunities through more robust business programs.

At the 2024 Fall/Winter Seoul Fashion Week, which took place last year, 84 brands and 101 international buyers took part, leading to around $5.24 million in orders. This year’s Seoul Fashion Week will showcase leading apparel brands that are already gaining international recognition, such as Youser, Julycolumn, Ulkin, Eenk, Bonbom, Amomento, and Marhenj.

These brands aim to explore new markets and secure contract opportunities. Major international buyers, such as France's Prendang clothing store, Japan's Daimaru department store and Singapore's Club 21, will also participate, reflecting high expectations for the event. "With the recent surge in K-fashion's popularity in Japan, we’re eager to connect with brands looking to enter the Japanese market," said Oikawa Shin, a buyer from Daimaru department store.

"We're excited to visit the showroom and attend the fashion show of the brand we discovered and purchased from at Paris Fashion Week," said Raphael Deray, a buyer from Prendang clothing store. A total of 62 brands — including women’s clothing, unisex, men’s clothing, accessories, and jewelry — will participate, with each brand scheduled for approximately 15 buyer consultations. Additionally, the showroom tour program, first introduced at the 2024 F/W Fashion Week, will be expanded at this year’s event. This program lets buyers visit designer showrooms for in-depth consultations.

Given the program’s success in enhancing brand understanding and securing orders, its scope will be broadened this year to include Hannam, alongside Seongsu and Cheongdam. A total of 28 brands will take part in the expanded showroom tour, featuring 18 operating showrooms. Each showroom will offer approximately six buyer consultation opportunities.

Furthermore, this year’s Seoul Fashion Week will feature a new presentation program aimed at overseas buyers and media participants. Designer brands like Seokwoon Yoon, Eenk, Boncom, Mmam, and Hyosung TNC, a chemical manufacturing company, will present their collections in-depth at DDP and Hannam-dong showrooms. Meanwhile, this year’s event will emphasize sustainable fashion through presentations, exhibitions, and resource circulation projects.

Sustainable fashion promotes ethical and rational consumption by utilizing eco-friendly materials and ensuring fair treatment of workers. Under the theme of sustainable fashion, Hyosung TNC will give a presentation on eco-friendly materials, including fabrics made from recycled fishing nets. Designer brand PartsParts will showcase an exhibition titled "Zero Waste Design Philosophy and Sustainable Fashion.

" In addition, Jeju Samdasoo, a mineral water brand, will carry out a resource circulation project, collecting and recycling bottled water consumed at the event to create new fibers. "Seoul Fashion Week is not just a platform for showcasing fashion, it’s a key opportunity to create global business prospects for Korean designers and brands," said Choi Pahn-kyu, head of the Creative Industry Planning Bureau at the Seoul Metropolitan Government. "We aim to help international buyers recognize the potential of the K-fashion industry through this event, fostering greater collaboration and achieving tangible results.
