Security beefed up across 100 ghats for 'Chhath Puja' in Bihar, SDRF & NDRF deployed PATNA: Millions are expected to gather at the Ganges River ghats in Bihar on Thursday for the third day of Chhath Puja, prompting extensive preparations by the state government. This day marks a crucial point in the festival as devotees offer prayers to the setting sun. Security is a top priority, with officials deploying a large number of personnel across over 100 ghats in Patna alone.
This measure aims to prevent any incidents as people gather to worship Goddess 'Chhathi Maiya' and offer 'arghya' to the setting sun. The Patna District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh, assured the public of the preparations. "A large number of additional security forces have been deployed in the state capital to manage crowds and avoid any untoward incidents.
Besides, personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and NDRF have also been deployed at various ghats in the city," another senior official of the Patna district administration said. "All ghats are ready for Chhath Puja festival. Arrangements have been made at all ghats, including Banshi Ghat, Krishna Ghat, Kali Ghat, Kadam Ghat and Patna College Ghat," Singh stated.
He added that advisories are in place for the safety and convenience of devotees. The government has made arrangements at numerous ponds and parks in addition to the river ghats to accommodate the large crowds. Medical camps are also set up for any medical needs.
