Following yesterday’s surprise reveal of a secret “Predator” film project being in the works for release next year, further details have seemingly emerged about the title. The project marks one of two “Predator” films on the way in 2025, the other being the previously announced live-action film “Predator: Badlands” starring Elle Fanning and directed by “Prey” helmer Dan Trachtenberg. Trachtenberg is also helming this secret “Predator” project which reports will be an animated anthology feature with three separate stories of Predators fighting warriors in multiple eras according to their sources.
After the success of “Prey,” fans were speculating the series would adopt an “Assassin’s Creed”-style approach with Predators taking on warriors in different historical eras. When ‘Badlands’ was revealed to be a future-set story, that idea seemed to go out the window. Turns out that’s not the case.
Instead, the idea will be adopted here and the anthology nature will allow for multiple eras to be explored. The outlet indicates one will be set during the golden age of pirates, one will be a potential samurai tale, and the third is unknown. Though confident in their sources, they advise this is only a rumor for now.
There are also obvious questions lingering – how will this film will be released – streaming or theatrical? Who is handling the animation? Is any of it within the continuity of the franchise?.
