Sebastiano “Iano” Latina, 91, of Wethersfield, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 19, 2024, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving children. Born in Floridia, Province of Siracusa, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonino and Sebastiana (LoGiudice) Latina. He spent his early years in Italy working on his family farm and serving in the Italian Army.

In January 1962, Sebastiano made the brave journey to the United States, to establish a new life and legacy with the love of his life, Josephine “Enza” (Signorelli) Latina. The couple recently celebrated 65 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a beautiful family that was the center of his world.

He was a master mason by trade, known for his skilled craftsmanship and dedication. A devoted member of the Italian American Stars, he cherished the camaraderie and traditions of his Italian heritage. His love for Italy was evident in his passion for Italian soccer, especially his favorite team, Juventus.

He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life: a good card game with friends at “the club,” tending to his garden, reading his Italian newspaper, and most importantly, spending time with his friends and family. He will lovingly be remembered by his three children and their spouses, Annie (Salvatore) LoGiudice, Angela (Joseph) Giliberto, and Anthony (Jodi) Latina. Sebastiano was a proud and doting nonno to his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Cristina, Luke, Paul, Zoe, and Andrew, who brought him endless joy.

He is also survived by his sister, Anna Sala of Floridia, Italy and sister-in-law Paula Signorelli of Cromwell as well as several nieces and nephews in both the United States and Italy. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucia LoGiudice from Floridia, Italy and his brother-in-law, Mario Signorelli, from Cromwell. His gentle spirit, fierce loyalty and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
