Pune: A search is underway to trace a 20-year-old constable who jumped into the Indrayani river from a bridge in Alandi on Sunday evening. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade, and local rescue personnel carried out searches till late in the evening on Monday but had to stop once it turned dark. An officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad police said searches restarted on Tuesday morning, but they were unable to trace her till late in the evening.
The officer said that the police have alerted all villages along the river till Ujani dam. "We have also alerted the Pune Rural police," the officer said. He said that the reason behind the woman's drastic decision is yet to be ascertained.
"We have questioned her friend, whom she had called and informed before jumping into the river. Our investigations are on," the officer said..
