The council is looking to prevent vehicle access to a seafront green after the same motorhome was brought back just two weeks after being evicted. The motorhome returned to Regency Square in Brighton over the bank holiday weekend - and today we can confirm it is the same van that was there in the middle of August..

Pictures taken this weekend show a vehicle parked on the green directly in front of the i360. It arrived on Saturday and has now left. A table and chairs were also spotted set up in front of the motorhome.

At that time The Argus approached the van for a comment but the occupiers did not want to speak to us. Brighton and Hove City Council issued a notice that instructed the motorhome owner to leave after residents had complained to the council’s parking enforcement team.

A resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, told The Argus legally parked vehicles were parked on the street completely surrounding the square and hemming in the motor home on all sides. The motorhome was driven away after being parked on the green for over two days, after those in it enjoyed the summer weather as the awning and sun loungers were brought out too. And after the motorhome returned the council confirmed it is looking at ways to restrict access.

Councillor Trevor Muten, Brighton and Hove City Council cabinet member for transport, parking and public realm, said: “This vehicle should not have been parked where it was and we are aware this is the second time this has happened in recent weeks. “It must be incredibly frustrating for residents and those who want to enjoy Regency Square. “Last time it was parked here we issued a notice asking the driver to leave, so they are aware this is not a suitable place to be parking their motorhome.

“While we will continue to issue enforcement notices as and when we are made aware of situations like this, we have also listened to residents and are exploring ways we can prevent vehicles from gaining access in future.”.
