Myra McFadyen, from Maryhill in Glasgow , who starred as Elena in the hit film had a celebrated career that spanned a number of decades. She studied at Glasgow's Conservatoire and worked at the National Theatre in London, she also performed as a mime in Paris and appeared in pantomimes and Christmas shows. Following her career, the actress landed herself the role of Elena in the box office hit Mamma Mia! alongside a star-studded cast, following two years in the West End's production of the ABBA musical.



She most recently appeared in the Old Vic's production of A Christmas Carol. Glasgow's Citizens Theatre led the tributes to the beloved star of stage and screen. In a Twitter post, the theatre wrote: "We are sad to hear of the passing of the brilliantly talented Myra McFadyen.

Known to Citz audiences for her roles in many productions including The Choir, Hayfever and Glasgow Girls, she will be remembered for her captivating performances across stage, tv and film."
