A FAMOUS Scots landmark has been branded the "most overcrowded" tourist attraction in Europe. And while it seems Spanish hotspots like Barcelona and Majorca grab the headlines over becoming unbearably crowded, it's actually a Scottish attraction that takes the crown . It was Edinburgh Castle came top of the list when it came to mentions about the destination being over-saturated with travellers . Some Tripadvisor reviews referred to the capital's jewel as “overpriced”, while other guests found it “underwhelming” for the cost of a ticket.

Emwhitnall wrote: “There is so much to explore within in the castle walls, I'd recommend getting the audioguide to make the most of the experience. Explore the Best Of British in Edinburgh: from the Museum Of Scotland to the coziest pubs in town “It was also very moving exploring the war memorial , dedicated to all those who have served for Scotland . “Make sure to time your visit if you want to watch the Mons Meg cannon firing as it only happens once a day.

” Jason F commented: “What an amazing castle! So much to see and do. We spent half the day here, enjoying the Cafe and many exhibits on display. “The views from the castle, of Edinburgh, are amazing.

” Other visitors to the site said the views from the castle over Auld Reekie were "impressive" with the steep hilly walk worth the effort to view the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Buckingham Palace , home to the Royal Family , took second place on the list. It comes as council chiefs have been warned that anti-tourism protesters could descend on the streets of Edinburgh as locals become increasingly frustrated over the growing number of visitors.
