The mum-of-three was tormented with a late-night hankering for the grease-plastered chippy chow, weeks before giving birth to son Blake, three, with hubby Marvin. The Hit List continues next Saturday on BBC 1. SCOTTISH SUN MAN ON QUIZ BY JORDAN TENNANT I WAS buzzing to take on The Hit List and get a musical grilling from Marvin and Rochelle.

The Saturday night head-scratcher summons music buffs to rattle off some of yesteryear’s biggest chart toppers - and I stepped up for a shot. I was overflowing with confidence in my capacity as a polished cog in the local boozer’s quiz team machine. However, reciting Engelbert Humperdinck’s 2012 Eurovision entry clearly wasn’t my strong suit.

Ask me who shot Phil Mitchell on EastEnders or the champ of Big Brother ’s seventh series and we’d be on to a winner. But I was a million miles away from taking top spot, as I nervously perched over a glitzy podium at the Beeb’s Glasgow HQ. I have a face for the radio and, evidently, a voice for the newspaper.

My bottle crashed as a string of iconic tunes, including UB40 and Christina Aguilera , boomed from the ear-splitting studio speakers. I couldn’t determine if my red face was the product of the sweltering studio lights or the shame of my hapless music knowledge. I watch plenty of quiz shows and even bagged a correct answer on the latest series of Amol Rajan’s notorious University Challenge - albeit an easy one on the ingredients of my favourite cocktail.

And believe me, a jug of Long Island Ice Tea was required following my humiliating defeat on the popular programme. With my head buried in my hands, I hesitantly returned to the solace of my pub quiz pals and shared a laugh over my mortifying 15 minutes of fame with Marvin and Rochelle on The Hit List..
