In a recent interview with Deadline , Sigourney Weaver shared her enthusiasm about joining the Star Wars cast, although details about her character remain under wraps.
“I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu . I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year,” she commented.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to be the first Star Wars film to hit theaters since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker . The film is poised to spearhead Lucasfilm’s new cinematic endeavours, which include projects led by directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy , James Mangold , and Dave Filoni. Despite limited information released about The Mandalorian & Grogu , new footage was unveiled at the D23 Expo by Favreau and Filoni, showing Grogu in his pod and the Mandalorian in full armour, emphasising their deep bond as a “clan of two”.

Weaver’s addition to The Mandalorian & Grogu is viewed as a strategic move by Lucasfilm to rejuvenate its film franchise.
