Friday, October 4, 2024 Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is poised to resume its operations at Budapest Airport on April 3, 2025, with the launch of flights to Copenhagen Airport. The service will operate four times a week, utilizing the Airbus A320 aircraft. This move marks a significant return for SAS to the Hungarian capital, providing direct links to Copenhagen, a major Northern European hub.

SAS’s reintroduction on this route introduces competition against established carriers such as Norwegian, Ryanair, and Wizz Air, which also service the Budapest-Copenhagen connection. The increased competition is expected to offer more choices and potentially better rates for travelers flying between these two cities. VINCI Airports, which oversees operations at Budapest Airport, reports that the Budapest-Copenhagen route will support over 4,300 weekly seats starting from April 7, 2025, with SAS accounting for approximately 16% of this capacity.

This strategic expansion by SAS is designed to capitalize on the steady demand for travel between Budapest and Copenhagen, enhancing connectivity and fostering increased passenger traffic at both airports..
