Bringing the Exquisite taste of Huiyang Cuisine to Shangri-La Dubai As part of the Guest Chef collaboration, diners at Shangri-La Dubai can relish the vibrant flavours of Chef Hou Xinqing’s Huiyang Cuisine, this November. Dubai, 15 October 2024: Culinary maestro Chef Hou Xinqing , Area Chinese Executive Chef of Shangri-La Group and winner of the 2019 Jiangsu May 1st Labour Medal, who honed his skills under the mentorship of Huaiyang cuisine master chef Mr. Zhou Xiaoyan.
Also known as the “Huaiyang Knife Master” for this exquisite knifework, Chef Hou respects for the traditions of Huaiyang cuisine and an appreciation of innovation. In 2014, Chef Hou brought his craftsmanship to Shangri-La Nanjing, and injected new soul to Jiangnan Wok, Chinese Restaurant. His creations are hallmarked by a commitment to retaining traditional Huaiyang flavours, while continuing the legacy of many classic dishes.
One of his signature dishes that he introduced was the ‘Braised Fish Head in Buddha Jumps Over the Wall Style’, which quickly became a favourite among local and foreign food lovers. Chef Hou can be seen in popular television programmes such as ‘A Bite of China’ and ‘Once Upon a Bite’ where he showcases the unique charm of Huaiyang cuisine.
