Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang has revealed that a celebrity host once made “multiple cast members cry” in the lead-up to the live show. For context, Bowen first joined the NBC series as a writer back in 2018, and was promoted to a full-time cast member the following year. In 2021, the actor made SNL history as the first Chinese-American cast member to receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Earlier this week, Bowen appeared on Watch What Happens Live with his Las Culturistas podcast co-host Matt Rogers, and was asked a pretty juicy question during the game “Truth or Kink.” Reading Bowen’s question out loud, host Andy Cohen asked: “Without naming names, what is the worst SNL host behavior you have witnessed?” Bowen was clearly taken aback as he awkwardly exclaimed: “Oh my gosh,” before giving his answer. “This man, this person, this host made multiple cast members cry,” Bowen then revealed.

“On Wednesday, before the table read, because he hated the ideas.” Andy was visibly horrified by this bombshell, saying: “Wow, that’s terrible,” to which Bowen agreed: “Terrible.” Needless to say, the revelation has piqued the interest of pop culture fans, who immediately took to social media to discuss who this badly behaved celebrity could be.

And while it is impossible to say for sure, one SNL fan did attempt to narrow down the search by listing every male celebrity who has hosted the show during Bowen’s tenure as a cast member. They are: Woody Harrelson, David Harbour, Chance the Rapper, Harry Styles, Will Ferrell, Eddie Murphy, Adam Driver, J.J.

Watt, RuPaul, John Mulaney, Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Jason Bateman, Timothée Chalamet, John Krasinski, Dan Levy. Rege-Jean Page, Nick Jonas, Daniel Kaluuya, Elon Musk, Keegan-Michael Key, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, Jason Sudeikis, Kieran Culkin, Jonathan Majors, Simu Liu, Paul Rudd, Will Forte, Willem Dafoe, Oscar Isaac, Jerrod Carmichael, Jake Gyllenhaal, Benedict Cumberbatch. Miles Teller, Brendan Gleeson, Jack Harlow, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Austin Butler, Michael B.

Jordan, Pedro Pascal, Travis Kelce, Pete Davidson, Bad Bunny, Nate Barzgate, Jason Momoa, Jacob Elordi, Shane Gillis, Josh Brolin, Ramy Youssef, and Ryan Gosling. Which, admittedly, doesn’t really narrow it down at all. Elsewhere on the show, Bowen was asked which of his SNL sketches was the “biggest bomb,” and he recalled a disappointing skit that was written for Ayo Edebiri.

“When Ayo Edebiri hosted this past season, we wrote a live sketch where it took place in an elevator, and she and I were, like, telling everyone that we should all make out or something because the elevator got stuck,” Bowen recalled. “Then, for some reason, it got turned into a pre-tape under our noses, and we had to adapt to that..

. It just didn’t go as well as I had hoped,” he added. “And you just deal with it.
