Saturday Kitchen viewers were rather confused this morning (26th October) by Sir Trevor McDonald’s behaviour on the BBC show. The legendary newsreader joined Matt Tebbutt to promote his new book, On Cricket, which explores his childhood in the Caribbean and his passion for the sport. Also in the kitchen on Saturday was Scottish chef Julie Lin, kicking off the show by making a delicious Malay-O-Fish burger with homemade chips.
However, while Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo was eager to tuck in, Sir Trevor was more focused on the wine despite declaring how much he loved to eat at the start of the show. Viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) when they realised it may have been a little too early for the iconic journalist to tuck in. “Why go on a food show if you're not even going to taste what they make for you, Trevor?” one confused fan asked.
Another queried: “Has Trevor actually tried anything yet?” “Sir Trev didn’t fancy sauce dribbling down his chin, at least he tried a chip!” another remarked, adding a crying with laughter emoji.
