Sarah Michelle Gellar says that things are moving a bit quicker than she expected with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival. It was revealed in early February that a potential revival of the iconic supernatural series was in development with Chloe Zhao set to direct the pilot for Hulu. Gellar spoke with PEOPLE and noted that things are coming together in terms of plans to develop the story.

“We’ve set up our offices, which means things are progressing probably faster than I’d anticipated,” Gellar said. “But it’s going to be a process, I think. To do it the way it needs to be done, everyone has to be patient with all of us, because this isn’t something that [will just happen].

” She added, “I pinch myself every day when I get into these rooms, and I’m looking at Gail Berman, the Zuckermans and Chloé Zhao. It’s an incredible group.” The series will be written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman ( Poker Face, Fringe ) and is being dubbed “the next chapter in the Buffyverse.

” Gellar would be taking on a recurring role, with the show focusing on a new Slayer. Gellar previously said that the show wouldn’t go forward unless they were sure they “would get it right”..
