Saoirse Ronan happily flashed her sparkling new wedding ring as she stepped out this week for the first time since her secret wedding to fellow thespian Jack Lowden. And a leading jeweller this weekend estimated the value of the emerald cut diamond ring to be as high as €90,000. The Carlow-born actress dazzled on the red carpet as she attended the gala opening of her new film The Outrun at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Oscar-nominated Ms Ronan was the epitome of elegance in a silver sequin dress – but it was her eye-catching wedding ring that stole the show. Voltaire Diamonds CEO Séamus Fahy – whose bespoke jewels have graced many a celebrity finger – told the Irish Mail on Sunday he estimates the ring ‘to be worth between €75,000 and €90,000’. The diamond expert told the MoS: ‘This particular ring comprises an emerald-cut diamond of approximately three carat in weight.



’ ‘The diamond is set within a classic four-claw setting with a plain, slim band in all yellow gold, measuring between 2mm and 2.5mm in width.’ With her sleek blonde hair pinned back, Ms Ronan happily posed for photographers who captured her first professional outing as a married woman at the premiere.

This week, movie bible Variety tipped her for another Best Actress nomination for her performance in the addiction recovery drama. Her public appearance came just weeks after it emerged the actress, who has already been nominated for four Oscars , married her Scottish beau Jack Lowden at a low-key ceremony in Edin – burgh on the weekend of July 20. As well as taking on the lead role in the new movie, both Ms Ronan and her new husband are producers on the film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Scottish author Amy Liptrot.

Ms Ronan met Mr Lowden, 34, in 2018 when they co-starred in the period drama, Mary Queen Of Scots. The Irish actress played the title role, with Lowden taking on the part of Henry Stuart, aka Lord Darnley, the monarch’s husband. Real-life love blossomed, and the pair began dating in December 2018.

While the couple have kept their relationship under wraps over the years, the Register of Scottish Civil Marriages records that Saoirse Una Ronan married Jack Andrew Lowden at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office last month. Only a handful of the couple’s closest friends and family were present, and all the guests were sworn to secrecy. Smitten Mr Lowden has gushed about his new wife, telling a UK newspaper she is ‘utterly phenomenal’, adding: ‘It was the most amazing experience – in particular, to watch her in that role.
