Monday, August 19, 2024 The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert indicating the possibility of rain and dust storms in the eastern coastal regions of the country. The alert specifically highlights areas such as Fujairah, Al Ain, and parts of Ras Al Khaimah, which may experience spells of rainfall over the coming days. From Monday, August 19, through Friday, August 23, the weather across the UAE is forecasted to be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a significant chance of rain over the eastern and southern areas.

The unsettled weather conditions are expected to impact various regions, potentially leading to travel disruptions. Winds are predicted to be light to moderate, with occasional fresh gusts reaching up to 40 km/h. These winds, blowing from the southeast to northeast, are expected to cause blowing dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility in several areas.

The NCM has advised residents to exercise caution, especially when driving, as the dusty conditions could make travel hazardous. The dust and sand carried by the winds could also impact outdoor activities and flights, particularly in regions like Fujairah and Al Ain. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and plan their journeys accordingly.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will experience slight to moderate waves, which could become rough at times due to the wind activity. This could affect marine travel and recreational activities along the coastlines. The NCM’s forecast also indicates that temperatures across the UAE will vary significantly during this period.

In the mountainous regions, temperatures could drop as low as 26°C, while internal areas may experience highs of up to 47°C. Coastal areas and islands could see humidity levels reaching up to 85%, creating muggy conditions, particularly during the evenings and early mornings. Conversely, humidity in the mountains may drop to as low as 15%.

The combination of rain, dust, and fluctuating temperatures could lead to delays and disruptions in travel plans. Visitors and residents planning to travel, especially to or from the affected regions, should monitor weather updates and prepare for possible delays. Over the past few days, the UAE has experienced partly cloudy and dusty conditions, with scattered rains reported in various parts of the country.
