San Francisco International Airport has named a new director. Mike Nakornkhet will return to the airport as director in early 2025. Big shoes to fill San Francisco International Airport (SFO) director Ivar Satero is retiring early next year.

Satero cemented his legacy at SFO as the director as he held the role during the opening of the new Harvey Milk Terminal. Several international destinations were added at the airport during his tenure. Mike Nakornkhet currently serves as chief financial officer and executive vice president at Denver International Airport (DEN).

He worked at SFO for 13 years before moving to Denver. At SFO, he held the role of Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Acting Managing Director of Finance for eight years. His experience sets him up well for the job, and Satero and Airport Commission President Malcolm Yeung have both expressed their support for his appointment.

“I’m so pleased to offer Mike my congratulations on his selection as the next SFO Airport Director.” - Satero “He has big shoes to fill following in the footsteps of previous Directors who have stewarded SFO to become an internationally recognized airport.” - Yeung Nakornkhet’s appointment was announced by San Francisco Mayor London Breed earlier this week.

She highlighted Nakornkhet’s more than 25 years of experience in the aviation industry and thanked Satero’s dedication to the role. Yeung commended Breed for her selection, saying she maintained the best intere.
