Thursday, August 22, 2024 San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport begins Terminal 1 renovations, enhancing the check-in area with modern upgrades, set for completion by spring 2025. This week marks the beginning of the first phase of construction at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport’s Terminal 1, focusing on updating the check-in counters. The renovation of the Terminal 1 check-in area aims to enhance the experience for departing travelers with a redesigned lobby, equipped with contemporary finishes and improved lighting to create a more welcoming atmosphere.

Turner Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for this project. “We are so pleased to be kicking off this critical renovation of our Terminal 1 check-in lobby to enhance departing passenger experience at OAK,” says Craig Simon, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland . “We look forward to working collaboratively with Turner Construction to optimize the phasing and minimize disruption throughout the duration of this project.



” The renovation project at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport’s Terminal 1 entails several key upgrades. The initiative includes the replacement of check-in counters, a new overhead soffit, enhanced lighting fixtures, and a fresh coat of paint on the lobby ceiling and back walls. Airlines that utilize Terminal 1’s check-in facilities are Hawaiian Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Airlines, Spirit Airlines, SATA Azores Airlines, Volaris Airlines/Volaris El Salvador, Sun Country Airlines, Advanced Air, and Viva Aerobus.

The renovation will proceed in stages, necessitating temporary relocations for airlines as their respective stations undergo refurbishment. The projected completion date for the entire project is slated for spring 2025..
