Pune: Former Rajya Sabha member Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati , MLA Bachchu Kadu and president of Swambhimani Shetkari Sanghatana Raju Shetti on Thursday announced the formation of a third front called Parivartan Mahashakti to contest the upcoming assembly poll. The new alliance has appealed to Maratha activist Manoj Jarange and founder of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) Prakash Ambedkar to join them. After a series of meetings in various cities, the three leaders made the formal announcement in Pune on Thursday.

Sambhajiraje said, "Even after 75 years of independence, Maharashtra lacks basic facilities. People are in a dilemma after the split in Shiv Sena and NCP as leaders are in govt and the opposition. They are desperate for an option which Parivartan Mahashakti will provide in the election.

" Kadu, founder of Prahar Janshakti party, said he was no longer with Mahayuti. He said the Constitution gives everyone the right to contest elections and the weaker sections will get representation through the third front. Sambhajiraje said he had met Jarange and told him to join them.

"Instead of ensuring the defeat of MLAs of other parties, we can send our MLAs to the assembly," he added. The third front leaders also had two meetings with Ambedkar and are hopeful of him accepting their invitation. "We will hold a rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on September 26.

We have appealed to various organisations to join us. We have formed a committee for a common minimum programme which will focus on farmers, unorganised labourers, and workers," Shetti said. .
