Samantha Ruth Prabhu made a stylish statement at the IIFA Utsavam 2024 Awards ceremony hosted on September 27, 2024 in Abu Dhabi. The dazzling diva made a shimmery entrance on the green carpet wearing the Akila gown designed by fashion designer Kresha Bajaj. The ombre gown was crafted using glass crystal beads.
The corset style bodice and the beaded detailing of the gown, accentuated Samantha’s glamourous look for the night. Samantha was awarded the Women of the Year in Indian Cinema Award at IIFA Utsavam. Decoding the exquisite ensemble, Kresha shared a detailed description of the piece adorned by Samantha.
She said, “An ode to the crystals used in ancient Egyptian medicine for healing and balancing for the body’s energy, the gown is a play of the ombré colours ranging from a blue to a teal green. With each panel fit to suit the body’s shape, each tassel piece is measured and hand tacked, forming a cascading structure.” A post shared by IIFA Utsavam (@iifautsavam) According to Kresha, while the Akila gown looks like there are over five colours in the ensemble, it only features three colours.
The gradation of one colour to the next is done while mixing the beads in different ratios from light to dark. This gradation forms a delicate scallop pattern, reminiscent of ancient Egyptian designs. The blue-green hues of the gown symbolise heaven and earth and add a whole new dimension to the gown.
She accessorised with minimal jewellery featuring a dual tone pair of colou.
