Singer Sam Smith made a cheeky promise to the audience just minutes into their performance at the BBC Proms. The BBC Proms, set at the historic Royal Albert Hall, opened its doors to the pop star for a night of many hits and celebrating their career so far. The concert was broadcast on BBC Two on Saturday evening (August 24) with the singer performing their biggest hits including I’m Not the Only One and Stay With Me, along with some special covers.
Shortly after performing Good Thing, Sam spoke to the audience to welcome the crowd and introduce their orchestra and various performers. But it was here they made a cheeky quip to the audience in case they were expecting their usual high profile antics on stage. Wearing a smart double-breasted black suit, they quipped: "Before I introduce you to some incredibly important people, I just wanna say to everyone here that don't worry - I'm not going to get my bum out! After the audience laughed at their joke, Sam continued: "The clothes are staying on, OK? The clothes are staying on.
This is going to be an appropriate show - even I know there's a time and a place." The opening joke to the audience was warmly greeted by their fans and audience. The 32-year-old singer's recent live shows have seen them dance in a corset and shake their bare bottom, with an infamous performance of Unholy at the 2023 Brit Awards attracted more than 100 complaints to Ofcom.
