Several variations of the classic custard cream biscuit have hit supermarket shelves in recent years - from strawberry to lemon, and orange to coconut. Rarely has an alternative version of the Bourbon appeared, however, but step forward Sainsbury's - who has adapted the classic chocolate treat in a version it can call it's own. Revealed in an Instagram post by New Foods UK (@newfoodsuk), the new offering - Bourbon Twists - features a Black Forest flavoured cream filling in the place of the regular chocolate inside.

"Wow, these are super strong in flavour, the cherry taste works so well with the chocolate biscuit!" declared New Foods UK. The biscuits are available in 150g packets for just 65p, and are suitable for vegetarians. "Oh these are really nice," one shopper lucky enough to sample them gushed in response.

Whilst a fourth Instagram user appeared equally as eager, adding: "Waiting for these to come to my local branch.

" Elsewhere, another person contemplated: "This would actually get me enjoying Bourbons. I generally find them a very run of the mill biscuit." Sainsbury's has also been busy rolling out a further edition of the Bourbon Twists.
