A council has issued safety advice for beach goers this bank holiday weekend. Rother District Council has asked visitors to the town’s beaches to take care to support the RNLI and lifeguards. Camber Sands, a popular beach near Rye, currently has a wristband system in place to assist lost children in being reunited with their family.
Parents wanting to take precautions should visit the coastal office to speak to the beach patrol. READ MORE: Camber Sands beach called 'paradise' and compared to Med The council has also urged people to take heed of the RNLI’s advice this weekend, including swimming between flags, never using inflatables in strong winds or rough seas and checking tide times. Councillor Doug Oliver, leader of the council, added: “Following a number of incidents in recent weeks of people getting into difficulty off the East Sussex coast, the RNLI is reminding people to follow their safety advice if you are taking to the water.
"Always wear a buoyancy aid, tell people where you are going and when you expect to be back and take a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch so you can call for help if needed.” Councillor Oliver also asked those driving to the seaside to park considerately and take litter home..
