Ryanair has changed its cabin bag fee structure for those looking to travel with a heavier piece of hand luggage. At present, travellers must pay an additional charge for Priority boarding should they wish to bring onboard a 10kg suitcase. Currently, only a small personal item not exceeding 40x20x25cm is part of the standard ticket offering.
The cost for upgrading to Priority to allow both a small personal item and a 10kg bag (max dimensions 55x40x20cm) is variable, ranging from £6 to £36 if completed at the time of booking. Customers opting to upgrade to Priority at a later stage or directly at the airport will encounter heftier fees. Previously stated on the Ryanair website as costing between £20 and £38, this fee has been re-evaluated to now fall between £20 and £60, reports Birmingham Live .
In response to queries about the increase, Ryanair underscored a segment of its luggage policy: "Fee varies depending on the route and travel dates selected." It added: "Non-priority customers who have not added a bag to their booking can still purchase a 10kg Check-in bag at the airport bag drop desk for €/£ 35.99.
Non-priority customers who bring their 10kg Check-in bag to the boarding gate may check it in against payment of a fee of €/£ 46.00 - €/£ 60.00.
" A representative for the airline added: "This is to align with the gate bag fee if passengers choose to bring their 10kg to the boarding gate and want to carry it on board, then they are subject to a gate fee." Rya.
