Thursday, January 9, 2025 Ryanair, Europe’s leading airline, announced today that it has initiated legal proceedings in the Irish Circuit Court, seeking over €15,000 in damages from a passenger whose disruptive behaviour forced flight FR7124, traveling from Dublin to Lanzarote on April 9, to divert to Porto. The diversion caused an overnight delay, leaving 160 passengers stranded and disrupting their travel plans, with many losing an entire day of their holiday. The airline condemned the incident as “completely unacceptable,” emphasizing the frustration caused to passengers who had worked hard to plan and enjoy their trips.

Ryanair reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and respectful environment for both passengers and crew, free from unnecessary disruptions caused by a small number of unruly individuals. Ryanair operates a strict zero-tolerance policy toward passenger misconduct and vowed to continue taking decisive action to address disruptive behavior onboard its flights. The airline reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring a positive travel experience for the vast majority of its passengers who adhere to rules and respect fellow travelers.
