A Ryanair passenger from Yorkshire has spoken out against "fatphobic" online trolls who suggested she should buy two plane seats due to her size. Lindsay McGlone, a 26 year old from Barnsley faced backlash on social media after sharing a TikTok video documenting her experience as a plus-sized traveller. Standing at 5ft3in and wearing a size 24, Lindsay filmed her journey on a flight to Bulgaria in an effort to reassure larger individuals that they have every right to travel without being stigmatised for their weight.
Accompanied by her partner Tommy, 28, Lindsay requested a seat extender in the video and demonstrated that she could lower the tray table. The video quickly went viral, amassing over 907,000 views and receiving 10,000 likes. Speaking to Luxury Travel Daily, Lindsay expressed her surprise at the video's popularity, stating: "I want to show people that they can travel and advocate for people who have different body types while being considerate of the people around them.
" She added: "I have a larger body and I'm aware that some people don't agree with my body type. You're going to get derogatory and fatphobic comments. I didn't expect the video to blow up as it has.
" Despite the negative comments, Lindsay revealed that her video had helped others, sharing: "One person messaged me saying that they were getting on a flight, they're bigger and they were so relieved that they found the video. People said I should eat a salad. It's so petty.
