Ryan Reynolds made sure to pay tribute to his co-star Rob Delaney 's late son, Henry, in the latest Marvel film, ' Deadpool & Wolverine .' The actor expressed that he had always regretted not including a tribute in the previous movie, ' Deadpool 2 ,' and was determined to make things right this time. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Reynolds shared how important it was to him that Henry’s name appeared in the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine .

He mentioned that although it took a few years, Henry’s memory is now honored in the film, allowing father and son to share the same screen in a meaningful way. Henry Delaney passed away at just two years old in 2018 after battling a brain tumor for two years. His death occurred around the time ' Deadpool 2' was wrapping up production.

Reflecting on this, Reynolds wrote that he has always "kicked [his] own ass" for not including a tribute to Henry at the end of that film. Reynolds described Rob Delaney as not only a talented and subversively funny person but also a beautiful writer who has shared his grief and experiences with the world through his memoir, ' A Heart That Works ' . This book, released in 2022, offers a raw and unfiltered look at the profound grief Delaney and his family endured after Henry’s passing.

Reynolds praised the memoir for its honest portrayal of the emotions that come with such a heartbreaking loss, and he encouraged others to read it to better understand the complexities of grief. In ' Deadpool & Wolverine' , Delaney's character, Peter, who was brought back to life in the end credits of ' Deadpool 2' , takes on a more significant role. Reynolds highlighted this as another way that Delaney’s personal journey has influenced the film.

Delaney, known for his work on the Amazon Prime series ' Catastrophe ,' has openly discussed the impact of his son's illness and death on his family. He hopes that by sharing their story, he can help others who are facing similar dark times feel less alone. Reynolds ended his message by expressing gratitude for having a friend like Rob Delaney, who has the courage to share his pain and help others through it.
