Just recently, 10-year old Future Wilburn decided to join the NFL as the Pittsburgh Steelers ’ new ball boy. In turn, star quarterback Russell Wilson posted a beautiful message for his stepson after deciding to enter the league in this manner. A few months ago, Wilson opened up about his experience of becoming a stepfather to Ciara’s son, Future.

In an Entertainment Tonight interview , the quarterback shared that when he first met the then-nine-month-old Future, he instantly knew it was his responsibility to care for him. He added that God had told him this was his duty, and while it was initially daunting, he saw it as an opportunity and a “gift.” Wilson drew a parallel between his role as a stepfather and the biblical figure of Joseph, who was not Jesus’ biological father but still took on the responsibility of raising him.



The football player also revealed that before meeting Ciara, he had written down a list of five non-negotiables for his future partner, which Ciara perfectly fit. The couple, who married in 2016, have since welcomed three more children into their family. Ciara has also opened up about the end of her previous relationship with Future, the father of her son, saying that her responsibility as a mother led her to reevaluate the relationship, which had been plagued by rumors of infidelity.

Now, his interest has shifted to football and it may potentially be nurtured by his stepfather’s team.
