Pune: Clerical staffers of RTOs, including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, withdrew their strike on Thursday evening following assurance from the transport department that their demands would be looked into. "We will be on duty from Friday. The state govt has said many promotions to the post of office superintendents will take place in 8-10 days.

The transport commissioner, whom we met on Thursday, said that until the rest of the promotions are done, the eligible staffers will hold the additional post of office superintendents," Surendra Sartape, the general secretary of Motor Vahan Vibhag (RTO) Karmchari Sanghatna, said. The state govt has also assured to fulfil the rest of the clerical union's demands soon, and not punish them for the days they were on strike..
