The Royal Pavilion has been rated among Britain's most beautiful buildings. The Brighton landmark featured in the list alongside internationally famous sights including Buckingham Palace and Westminster Cathedral. Built in 1787, the Indo-Saracenic style building was lauded in the list among other "cutting edge, historic, beautiful and iconic" landmarks.

The Royal Pavilion came 11th in the list (Image: The Argus) The Pavilion, in the heart of the city, was rated 11th in the list of the top 30 most beautiful buildings in Britain. Researchers at Leonardo Hotels surveyed 2,000 Brits and asked them to vote for their favourite landmarks. A spokesman for Leonardo said: "The 30 strong list brings together both modern and historic designs with Kings Cross Station, which was in redevelopment between 2006 and 2013, and the newly renovated The Great Court at the British Museum sitting alongside buildings such as 16th century Highclere Castle in Hampshire made famous in Downton Abbey, and one of the oldest libraries in Europe, Bodleian Abbey in Oxford.

Two thirds of people surveyed agreed the UK has some of the most beautiful buildings in the world, with 71 per cent admitting they forget how beautiful the country is. The survey also revealed more than half (65 per cent) of us.
