In a video posted to Instagram last night The Princess of Wales and husband William who was sporting a beard, were congratulating the Great Britain Olympics team on their brilliant performance. They achieved a total of 14 gold medals in Paris with an overall tally of 65 medals.

In the video which also saw messages of congratulations from celebrities including Snoop Dogg, Claire Balding and Jessica Ennis. In the video, shared on Prince Kate and William’s official Instagram page, Kate said “From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB.” Prince William , who was seen sporting a rare beard, added: “Well done on all you’ve achieved, you’ve been an inspiration to us all.

” But watchers were focusing more closely on Kate’s ring finger than on the Olympics. Fans at first speculated that the piece could be the promise ring that Prince William gifted to Kate when they first started dating as students at St Andrew's University. Others thought it appeared to be a gold band set with diamonds and sapphires, perhaps an eternity ring.

Royal fashion follower Remoulade Sauce, suggest that the ring could be an old promise ring from William. They wrote: “For those asking about her ring. I may be wrong but it looks to be the promise ring that William gave Catherine many (many, many) years ago.

The Promise Ring is a rose gold ring designed with pearls (William’s birthstone in June) and multiple garnets (Kate’s January birthstone).” Meanwhile another said: “Such a lovely message, they both look happy and relaxed. The sapphire anniversary/eternity band is a lovely alternative to her engagement ring.

Nice to have a ring with a lower physical profile for everyday casual wear.” Kate's normal engagement ring (Image: Getty Images) Others were curious about the ring and guessed what brand it might be. One person wrote: “It seems a Damiani belle epoque ring”.

Another wrote: “I have the same Ralph Lauren top, it’s very comfortable and always looks flattering. She looks great..

.would love to see more photos of the ring though.” Kensington Palace also posted on X, writing: “Every athlete showed immense dedication, heart and passion.

You made us all so proud! Here’s to celebrating every triumph at Paris 2024 and looking forward to more from Paralympics GB later in the summer.” The ring on Kate's wedding finger in the video was quite different to her engagement ring, sparking an online debate Joining the royals in the message were Snoog Dogg, David Beckham, Rebecca Adlington, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jessica Ennis-Hill and more. Well done Team GB, indeed.

Some were amazed at Wills’ beard with one saying: “Great to see Catherine again, and William unshaved haha, it’s been years since we’ve seen that, what a sight!” A fan said: “William with a tan and a beard!!!!” Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks.
