BARRE – Williamstown defenders faced a difficult choice Friday when deciding which Twinfield-Cabot player to focus on during the opening game of the Winter Solstice Holiday Tournament. As it turned out, the Blue Devils wound up facing an impossible task. A handful of Trojans and Huskies took turns doing the heavy lifting and weren’t concerned about padding their individual stats during a 51-43 victory at the Barre Aud.

“Our guys are starting to really play for the name on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back,” Twinfield-Cabot coach Kris Bador said. “And when you have kids doing that, it’s contagious.” Freshman Omar Miksic-Knibb was a key difference-maker for Bador’s squad, scoring 13 of his 14 points during the second and third quarters.

Teammate Russell poured in 11 of his 13 points in the second half, while Tej Stewart scored all 10 of his points after the break to help seal the final outcome. Zepherin Hebert finished with 11 points for Twinfield-Cabot, while Nick Mascitti paced the Blue Devils with 18 points. Colby Laggner scored six points for Williamstown and teammates Keaton Hill and Evan Bailey added five points apiece.

Miksic-Knibb guarded Bailey almost the entire game and never lost steam while facing off against the veteran Blue Devils standout. “That was a coming-out party for Omar,” Bador said. “When he got to school at 8:30 this morning, all he could talk about was, ‘Evan Bailey, Evan Bailey.

Wherever Evan Bailey goes, I go.
