Roger Federer has told Carlos Alcaraz that he must be aware of his ‘physical capabilities’. The Swiss star is widely regarded as one of the best tennis players to ever grace the court, and Alcaraz is viewed as the heir to his throne after a sensational few seasons. The 21-year-old has already spent time as world No.

1 and has four Grand Slam titles to his name, and Federer has high hopes for Alcaraz going forward. However, after watching the Spaniard beat both Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz whilst representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup in Berlin, Federer has offered some advice to Alcaraz. He told Stan Sport: “His intensity, the power in his shots already, his physical capabilities that he has.



“Obviously, he's got to be careful, you know, (that) he doesn't run basically for every ball because it's not necessary. But he'll learn that with age and with time. But also very strong (mentally) when it matters the most.

" Federer then touched on how Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic to win the Wimbledon title last year in dramatic fashion, which he felt was the youngster’s ‘incredible moment’. He continued: “Fifth set, this is stuff that we know that Novak thrives and plays at his absolute best. “And for Carlos to come through that, I mean, for me, that's when he showed like 'OK, he's the guy' and he's going to be around for a very long time.
