Comedian Rob Schneider wasn’t in a laughing mood during a recent interview with Tucker Carlson . That’s because the interview happened a couple of days after singer Elle King , the 35-year-old daughter of the “ Saturday Night Live ” alum, called out his “toxic” parenting on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast . King, best known for her 2015 hit “Ex’s & Oh’s,” said her relationship with Schneider was pretty rocky at times, due to long stretches of no contact and what she called his harsh criticisms of her appearance.

“I go for like four or five years without talking to my dad,” King told podcast host Bunnie XO . “If I would ever spend a summer with my dad, it would be on a movie set. I would just get lost in the shuffle.

” King also claimed that Schneider “forgot about every single birthday,” and emphasized that she doesn’t agree with her father’s conservative politics . On Wednesday, Schneider, 60, publicly apologized to King for his behavior over the years. “It’s fun being a parent, isn’t it?” Schneider told Carlson, before attempting to send a public message to King.

“I want to just tell my daughter, Elle ― I love you and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn’t,” he said. “And I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely.

I love you entirely.” He added: “I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky. I wish you the best.

I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don’t take anything you say personally.” King has not yet commented on her father’s remarks. You can see Schneider’s apology below.
